Part of Your World
Today, in my humble opinion, is a borderline holiday. The Little Mermaid comes out on a DVD in a Platinum Collectors Edition. This, you must know, is "MY" movie. Everyone has a childhood film that consumed their daily fantasys and was the basis for much of their play time. The Little Mermaid wasn't just a movie about a girl with a dream for love and adventure, it was the basis for my imagination. Even going back and watching the movie now I see how many of my expectations for life came out of this movie. Trust me, go take a re-look at your childhood film and all of a sudden you'll be saying 'Oh! Thats where THAT came from!'.
Here are the original film posters:

Here are some screen stills from major movie moments:

Here is the new DVD:

iTunes also now has The Little Mermaid available for download. Check your iTunes store for details.
And Lastly, lest we forget the chance to market new products based on the movie:

I played the original Nintendo little mermaid game back when I was about 6 and it was actually pretty good, this probably sucks though. If you are a child of the 80's perhaps this looks familiar to you:

The Little Mermaid is a classic, and in large part due to the incredible music that came out of the film. Truth be told, the Little Mermaid taught me that i could sing and that I enjoyed it. Beauty and the Beast and Alladin only intensified that. So I hold a very dear place in my heart for this movie.
I had the opportunity to hear Jodi Benson [Voice of Ariel] sing a portion of "Part of Your World" live as she performed in a local Christmas show and it was incredible. I actually teared up lol.
Do try and listen to "Part of Your World" sometime today so you too can remenise.
I promise not to obsess over my childhood disney movies too much after this ;) Or really anything else from that time! Though it's hard not to think you had the best childhood era when all the toys for kids today are remixes of your own. Looks like all the best stuff was thought up in the 80s!
